Learn to work with clients who suffer from sexual and ritualistic abuse issues and need to be touched with consideration for both their physical and emotional needs. This course will cover the importance of safe touch, distorted beliefs which result from victimization, signs and symptoms of sexual abuse, transference and counter-transference in the massage session, post-traumatic stress reactions, combining reality therapy with the massage therapy treatment, and how to know when to refer out for appropriate counseling. This class will include lecture and demonstration.
